ACM Collaborative Arts Camp
June 15st - July 31st, 2020 Monday/Thursday, Online!
(No class the week of June 29th)
As part of this summer's unique collaborative arts camp, students will select three core curriculum classes and one (or more) electives to accompany their learning. They must choose one Music Class, one Art Class, one Culture Class, and at least one Elective.
NOTE: All class times are subject to change (and most likely will change) over the next few weeks as we gear up for this exciting summer adventure!

Classes will span a total of 6 weeks, meeting twice a week unless otherwise stated.
Total Camp Cost: $250 (Includes three core classes, and one elective)
Extra Electives: +$50 (50% off normal class price!)

Music Composition:
Instructors: Dr. Alexander Koops and Richard Liautaud
Age: 11-18
Students will develop their creative skills using both pencil and part as well as computer/tablet-based composing with Noteflight (free online program) and Soundtrap (free online program). As part of this course, students will have listening assignments and composing assignments such as composing a piece of music inspired by a folk story from Peru, composing a piece inspired by a favorite animal, exploring sounds from around the house, making homemade instruments and recording them, and collaborative composition assignments.

The participants of the Collaborative Art Camp will explore important cultural and historical elements of Peru, Latin America, and the world... through art! Students will work with strategies that enhance their creative capacity. The students will use materials found in their homes. And so, they will consciously re-discover the wonderful resources around them. Kiddos will explore basic concepts of stitching and the construction of objects and surfaces. We will play with notions of imaginary characters and settings! And, students in the higher section, will discover artistic techniques, both textile and plastic, that will allow them to increase their possibilities of artistic creation!

From drama script, character development, and its relation with the music and spectacle proposal, students are going to analyze and create their own productions and operas. History of Rock ’n’ Roll is fun and educational study of the origins of most of the popular music of the 20th and 21st centuries. We will be exploring the historical and social context that created different styles of rock and other popular genres such as country, soul, heavy metal, R&B, funk, and hip-hop. Students will learn about many influential groups, music, and movements of music and their connections to modern popular music and the artists from the past that have led the way.
